There’s a moment that comes — often quietly, sometimes with a thunderclap — when we realize we can’t keep shrinking ourselves to fit into a life that doesn’t match our Light.
And for many of us… that moment is now.
For so long, I was busy trying to manage, control, fix, perfect, and “make it all work.” I was spiritual, sincere, and hardworking — but underneath, I was still organizing my life around fear. I had no idea I was playing small.
Smallness is sneaky. It hides behind people-pleasing and perfectionism. It sounds like “I’m just being realistic.” It masquerades as humility — but it’s not true humility. It’s the ego in disguise.
Playing small isn’t how we stay safe — it’s how we stay stuck.
“Your function is to be happy.” That’s what A Course in Miracles teaches us. Not to be perfect. Not to be in control. Not to endlessly hustle to prove our worth. Our purpose is to live as the Light that we already are.
But when we’re tangled in judgment, guilt, and fear — when we’re looping through old beliefs and worn-out stories — we forget. We settle. We hide.
And we suffer.
We’re not meant to live in contraction. We are here to be generous with our Love. To share our gifts, not protect them. To trust our heart, not defend it.
Living beyond smallness doesn’t mean we have to shout from rooftops or become spiritual influencers. It means we’re willing to stop playing a part that was never real. It means we allow ourselves to be guided — truly guided — by the Higher Holy Spirit Self.
What keeps us small?
For many of us, it’s the fear of being judged. The guilt of the past. The belief that we’ll never be “enough.” But these are illusions — and illusions dissolve in the Presence of Love.
So we begin gently.
We stop blaming ourselves for not being “further along.”
We stop trying to “earn” our way into worthiness.
And we begin to listen. We partner UP with Spirit. We open to the wisdom that’s always been there.
In Masterful Living, we work with one of my favorite spiritual experiments:
We actively give up judging, complaining, and criticizing. It’s an essential part of our spiritual practice.
That alone can shift everything.
Because those are the ego’s favorite tools for keeping us stuck in smallness. Those are the blocks that keep us spinning instead of rising.
The Light has never left us.
The Love has never left us.
And our invitation to fully embody it has never expired.
We are ready. We are willing. And we are called.
This world doesn’t need more performers. It needs more Presence.
It needs us to see it correctly and BE the Light we’d like to see in the world.
The world doesn’t need the version of us we’ve been trying to edit and perfect — it’s the Real us. The wholehearted us. The miracle-minded, surrendered, ready-to-rise version of us.
We don’t have to do it alone. We never did. There are no extra points for going it alone.
Instead, there’s tremendous strength in joining. And right now, as a global spiritual family, we’re being asked to step into the role we were born for: Light-bringers. Love-beings. Lightworkers of the heart.
We’re not playing small anymore.
We’re remembering who we are.
And we’re doing it together. In the mind of the Infinite, it’s already done. We’re already there.

Latest ACIM PODCAST EPISODE: my topic is Stop Wishing It Were Different: Living in God’s Perfect Happiness Now. I’m reflecting on the A Course in Miracles teaching that God’s will for me is perfect happiness (Lesson 101), and how I can live that truth by respecting the law of cause and effect. I’m learning to release the illusion of sin, guilt, and victimhood, and to see suffering and sacrifice not as spiritual requirements, but as old, learned habits I can let go of. Forgiveness and willingness are my way out, helping me remember that I’m never alone, that I live at the very center of God, and that I am the light of the world (Text Ch. 8, Sec. 4). When I accept this truth, I reclaim my joy, my peace, and my true identity.
