Here’s an image that’s been helpful in my own learning:

Imagine the world is a video game we’re projecting.

The video game has levels. Some levels are dark and frightening. Some are difficult. Some are full of obstacles and enemies. Some are sweeter, brighter, more loving, more abundant.

If we don’t like the level we’re on, what do we do?

We don’t argue with the level. We don’t try to fix the level. We don’t shout at the screen demanding the level change.

We raise our vibration. And our level shifts accordingly.

How do we raise our vibration?

We focus on being loving. We focus on being kind. We focus on being generous of heart. We take responsibility for the meaning we’ve been making of things.

Instead of complaining about what we’re experiencing, we take responsibility for choosing the feelings we’d like to feel.  That’s a deep practice, it’s challenging and it does take practice, but it WORKS.  Oh, boy, does it work!

Here’s the part many of us resist: we’re the ones generating our experience.

A Course in Miracles puts it like this:
“The world is nothing in itself. Your mind must give it meaning.”

ACIM teaches us that everything in the world is neutral. We give everything in the world all the meaning that it has for us. Then we look at the meaning we’ve assigned and we believe it’s real.

This is the part people often resist. They want the level to be objectively bad so they don’t have to take responsibility for raising their vibration.

I get it. I lived that for years.  Blame the world.  I’m the victim of the world.

What I came to see is that taking responsibility isn’t a burden. It’s a liberation.

Because if I’m the one generating the level, I’m the one who can shift to a higher one.

I don’t have to wait for the world to change. I have to change my mind, and the world changes with me.

The vibrations I’m interested in maintaining now are peace, love, joy, freedom, wholeness, creativity, prosperity, clarity, harmony, and abundance. Those are the levels I’m energizing. That’s what I’m interested in.
