A Course in Miracles Lesson 259 drops a bombshell: “Let me remember that there is no sin.”

If you were raised in traditional religion, that might make you squirm. But stay with me here, because this understanding completely transformed my relationship with God.

Sin vs. Mistakes

Here’s the distinction that set me free:

Sins require punishment. Mistakes can be corrected.

When we believe in sin, we believe we’re fundamentally flawed, unworthy, separate from God. How can we reach our goal of God if we think we’re sinners?

ACIM teaches: “Sin is the only thought that makes the goal of God seem unattainable.”
Think about that.
The very concept of sin creates an unbridgeable gap between us and divine love.
Wow!

The World’s Favorite Label

The world loves to label people as sinners. “Label me a sinner!” it cries. But this labeling is a mechanism of separation. It’s how we maintain the illusion that we’re separate from God and from each other.

Let’s agree to give up all forms of punishment. PLEASE.

From the snarky reaction, the cold shoulder, to ghosting someone and all the ways we try to shame and make folks feel guilty and bad, including ourselves. That’s got to be our baseline spiritual practice of healing the mind—substituting compassion for punishing judgments.

Freedom Through Forgiveness

This is why forgiveness is the only way home. Not the world’s version—”I’ll forgive but not forget.” Real forgiveness recognizes there’s nothing to forgive because only love is real.

In Masterful Living, we practice this radical forgiveness daily. We take those “unforgivable” situations and apply ACIM principles until the sting is gone. Until we see only innocence.

When we believe in sin, we believe in punishment. When we believe in punishment, we live in fear. And when we live in fear, we can’t see God anywhere—not in ourselves, not in others, certainly not in this chaotic world.

Your Liberation Awaits

What if you stopped believing in sin today? What if you recognized every “wrong” as simply a call for love, a mistaken attempt to find happiness outside of God?

Father, I would not be insane today. I would not be afraid of love, nor seek for refuge in its opposite.”
This prayer from ACIM reminds us: fearing love because we think we’re sinners is the real insanity.

You are not a sinner. You are God’s perfect creation, dreaming you’re separate. It’s an adventure, not a sin.  There is no sin. Only mistakes that can be seen in the Light of truth. Time to wake up and remember to laugh!

LATEST ACIM PODCAST EPISODE:  In this episode, God Doesn’t Punish You (You Do),I reveal how the belief that God punishes us is completely false—it’s our own projection of guilt and shame that creates all punishment in our lives. I share my decades-long pattern of using alcohol, food, and other self-destructive behaviors to keep myself feeling guilty and reinforce the belief that I was fundamentally bad and sinful, a pattern I finally recognized came from centuries of religious teaching about being unworthy sinners. Through A Course in Miracles teachings from Chapter 3 and Lesson 189, I explain the “law of seeing”—that we perceive outside what we feel inside, so when we feel God’s love within us, we see a loving world, but when we feel self-hatred, we see only fear. As we complete this 9-year cycle, I’m inviting everyone to join me in releasing these ancient patterns of guilt and self-punishment before we begin fresh in 2026.
