In her book ACTS OF FAITH, Iyanla Vanzant writes, “Even when it seems that the well is drying up, we can affirm, ‘I can hardly wait to see the good that will come out of this.'” Affirmations are a powerful tool that I can use anywhere anytime. Knowing that my mind is my most precious tool and that my thoughts have creative power, I use affirmations to focus my attention. When what I don’t want seems to be all I can see, I use affirmations to remind me of what it is I desire. Affirmations help me keep focused on what is valuable.
In this world, the Law of Cause & Effect is always in effect and that means that the universe responds to every thought and feeling that we invest in. Affirmations help us to keep our attention on our intention to awaken, expand, be joyful, helpful and prosperous. The universe is always, essentially, saying “yes.”
If I’m thinking “I can’t do it, I don’t have what it takes, this is so hard, I hate this, I’m an idiot, I’ll never make it” and thoughts like that, the universe will respond with a great big YES and show us what that looks and feels like.
If I’m thinking “I AM always supported, I AM divinely guided, I AM willing to receive healing, I AM available for insight, I AM open to abundance,” and thought like that the universe will respond with a great big YES and show us what that looks and feels like.
The entire universe responds with a great big YES and show us what our thoughts look and feel like. We have the free will to affirm whatever we choose – positive or negative.
Grace is omnipresent, God is omniactive, and I can use my attention to see beyond any idea otherwise. This is the power of affirmation.
In order for an affirmation to really support me, it must be something I can, in substance, believe, otherwise my subconscious mind will rail against it thus creating more negative affirmations. I affirm what is possible and what is true. I affirm my gratitude and my willingness. I increase my receptiveness to having what I want through affirmations. My willingness is the main leverage I have to improve my life.
Today I come up with three affirmations that speak to the desire of my soul such as:
I AM willing to experience true freedom.
I AM willing to release all judgment and condemnation and look to see with eyes of love and compassion.
I AM willing to be open and receptive to divine guidance and support in all areas of my life.
Sometimes I post my affirmations in prominent places where I will see them often. I make a commitment to say them every time I see them. In THE ARTIST’S WAY Julia Cameron advises, “if we can become one-tenth as good at positive self-talk as we are at negative self-talk, we will notice an enormous change.” Today I AM willing to change my mind! My practice of nonviolence is a powerful agent for revealing more peace, more love and more joy in the world, right now!
