Many of my days begin with a reminder that I’m partnering UP. I’m not interested in going it alone anymore. I take Mighty Companions with me.
Many people I talk with don’t have like-minded friends or study groups nearby, but they sure wish they did. They’re searching for people who understand what they’re learning. Many feel called to start a study group, but they’re afraid. I understand that. I talk with those people all the time.
People tell me they found this path by searching online for support with A Course in Miracles. They joined a class, found a community, and made new lifelong friends. It’s amazing what happens when like-minded people connect.
Community is one of the ways we remember that we’re One. We share the benefits of our healing because we’re One with each other. We take comfort in one another and together we remember that everyone experiences guilt and shame. Everyone has regrets. It’s part of the journey.
Our foibles and follies aren’t sins. They’re explorations and adventures and we all have them. It’s good to have patience, compassion and a sense of humor – with these tools, humility comes. And with humility comes the ability to actively receive the inspiration, intuition and guidance that leads us to a much better life.
Sometimes it seems like we’re making little progress, but any kind of progress is such a blessing. I think of Van Gogh.
Vincent is, quite possibly, my all-time favorite painter. Vincent had studied for the priesthood and had a profound desire to know God fully. I absolutely loved reading the letters he wrote to his brother, Theo. Vincent understood the nature of creative progress, he wrote, “To make progress is a kind of miner’s work; it doesn’t advance as quickly as one would like, and as others expect, but as one stands before such a task, the basic necessities are patience and faithfulness. In fact, I do not think much about the difficulties, because if one thought of them too much one would get stunned or disturbed.” What words of Wisdom! His dedication and devotion to his personal progress is so clear in that statement and I bless him and love him as my teacher.
I take heart that sometimes it feels like a kind of miner’s work. Working in the dark. It’s not easy and sometimes it feels so challenging that we might lose our minds. And that’s when it’s so valuable to have mighty companions in the visible and the invisible.

LATEST PODCAST EPISODE: What Is Evil? In this episode of A Course in Miracles: Walking the Talk, Living the Love, I explore a word we’ve all heard a million times. It can be tempting to label people evil for what they do. What does that even mean? A stranger attacked me online over a simple question about my dog. Instead of arguing, I got curious, and that led me right back to A Course in Miracles. So how does ACIM define evil? Along the way, I look at what the teaching says about evil, and why the word is so easy to reach for. The answer may surprise you.
