When I was in my teens and 20’s I dreamed of traveling the world. I really wanted to see everything and do everything and have lots of adventures. I lived in Manhattan for the 10 years of my 20’s. I really loved living in the city and being able to run out the door to do a million exciting things.
I worked in the theatre most of those years, many of them at the New York Shakespeare Festival so I got free tickets to almost everything in town and went to shows constantly. I ate out a lot, and take out was much more affordable then. I could go to the very best inexpensive restaurants – and have much better food than I could have in an expensive restaurant somewhere else.
Movies were more affordable so I was doing that frequently and there were lots of art film houses so I could see all kinds of classics. I walked and walked and walked, and it was a great way to stay in shape and save money too.
I loved going out dancing on the weekends and would get into clubs where the celebrities were hanging out. Plus, of course I went to concerts and more concerts of all kinds. I had opera tickets and went to the ballet. It was non-stop.
I had this idea that the more of these kinds of things I did, the better my life was, and that meant I was a great person living a great life. I was living the dream!
I wasn’t really that happy though.
I enjoyed a lot of it, but still I didn’t feel fulfilled.
I always felt it wasn’t enough.
Something was missing.
Now, I live a quiet life. Very quiet. I prefer to stay at home as much as possible. I enjoy the tranquility so very much. Being able to maintain Peace no matter what is so wonderful.
My annoyances, concerns and agitations are minor even though they’re common occurrences. I feel confident that Spirit is in charge, I’m one with Spirit and that everything will ultimately be used for good.
I’ve become aware that I’d rather be truly helpful than almost anything else. And that does mean making sure I’m in balance. So, I balance my life with work, exercise, contemplation, playtime, healthy living and loving relationships.
I’ve learned the difference between taking inspired action and looking to be entertained or to do something to prove myself.
One of the things I’ve learned “the hard way” is that taking inspired action is so much more fruitful than just following along on the ego/personality thoughts.
I have ideas all the time of wonderful projects and creative fun expressions that would be absolutely beautiful to make and enjoy and share – and yet, I know that most of them aren’t worth pursuing because they wouldn’t bring anywhere near as much benefit as simply offering another free forgiveness workshop. (I’ve got one today, click now for info!)
Life has shown me that I can pursue ego ideas, and yet at the end of their accomplishment, I won’t feel that I’ve invested my energy wisely. It was just something to do.
The things for me to pay attention to are the those that remove the blocks to Love in my consciousness and that assist others in doing the same. That’s where I will find the most enjoyment and fulfillment. That’s why I’m so prolific in teaching, blogs, podcasts. It’s what I Love and what I’m most interested in. It’s fun for me.
When I had the idea to offer my Masterful Living Program back in 2008, it felt like too big an idea for me to execute by myself. I didn’t have an assistant to help me do things. I could barely keep myself afloat. I was overwhelmed with credit card debt.
Although my Finding Freedom From Fear Spiritual Bootcamp had been a real success, it was a 90 day program and Spirit presented Masterful Living to me as a year-long program. It seemed a much bigger commitment. I didn’t want to do it. I didn’t want to commit to a whole year. I really resisted it.
Although I was very reluctant, I could feel that beautiful truth that Joseph Campbell spoke so clearly, “The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure that you seek.” I knew that was true about Masterful Living for me.
My intuition/guidance/Spirit made it very clear to me that my fears were unwarranted. I was getting a clear message that if I said yes to what was unfolding it would be my answered prayer. At the time, I’d been praying for at least 12 years to inspire people to be more loving in their lives and relationships.
Well, it did turn out that Masterful Living was my answered prayer. The greatest benefit I’ve seen over the years is that people in Masterful Living all bring much more Love into their life, their experiences, and their relationships, and with their own self – their hearts open and they feel more in tune with their purpose.
All these years later, embarking on another year of Masterful Living, I still continue to be amazed at how much I LOVE this curriculum of walking the talk and living the Love, getting out of our heads and into our hearts.
I’ve spoken with so many people who were afraid to follow their guidance, their inspiration, thinking that they wouldn’t possibly know how to execute the inspiration they were given. I know that feeling very well.
When I tell someone what the next thing Spirit has guided me to, and they say, “how will you ever do that?” I let them know, that part has been given yet. First I say yes, and then the “how” is given.
What have you been guided to that you don’t yet know the HOW of? Can you say yes, and trust that the perfect HOW will reveal itself to you?
As it says in the Truly Helpful Prayer – what I call “my purpose prayer,” I don’t have to wonder or worry about what to say or do because the one who sent me will direct me.
I’ve found that to be true every time. I don’t doubt it anymore.
Let’s keep working on saying yes to Love and yes to Peace, no matter how ugly or scary it looks in the world. Our yes keeps the inspiration flowing.
Living by the Light of the truth is a path of Joy. There’s no substitute for always feeling in divine alignment. It’s such a sweet spot, I don’t ever wish to leave it.

NEW ACIM PODCAST EPISODE: my topic is Stop Upsetting Yourself. With so much going on in the world, many people are upset a lot of the time. A constant state of agitation is a form of self-sabotage that can easily be transformed and eliminated. In this episode, I offer a pathway to move out of being upset, angry, frustrated and move into Peace. We’re never upset for the reason we think is more than just a saying. It’s true.
