During the difficult times, people get triggered.

Sometimes when we come together with family, with in-laws, with old friends and old wounds, and suddenly we find ourselves upset. Frustrated. Irritated. Angry.

Most of us experience being triggered as a disturbance. A disruption. Something’s gone wrong.

What if we looked at it differently?

What if being triggered is actually our answered prayer arriving?

Here’s the spiritually mature view: when we’re triggered, it means there’s something unresolved that’s now available for healing. The pattern has come to the surface. It’s red hot. It’s in our face.

Which means it’s ready to be healed.

The deep desire of our heart is to be in line with the Peace of our true nature. To be the Love. To be the joy. To be the harmony. To be the Self we already are beneath all the mental and emotional patterns.

So when we get triggered, the prayer we’ve been praying is being answered in the form of an opportunity.

The ego thought system is designed so that when we’re looking at our life through the lens of the ego, we’ll see the trigger as the problem. Spirit sees the trigger as part of the the cure.

What makes the difference is what we do next.

We can strengthen the pattern of separation by going into blame, attack, and resentment. Or we can choose to see the person in front of us as a holy messenger. Someone who’s offering us the opportunity to get in touch with our willingness, our commitment to live the Love and walk the talk.

When I get triggered now, here’s what I do: I place my hand on my heart and consciously attune inward. I join with my Higher Holy Spirit Self. I release the sense of separation.

I don’t try to figure out how to get Peace.

I open my mind and ask: what’s the healing that’s here for me right now?

And every time, something magnificent is occurring if I allow it.

The more challenging it feels, the more healing our loving choice is.

NEW PODCAST EPISODE: What Is Justice? I thought I knew what justice was. Then I sat with Chapter 19 of the Manual for Teachers, and the word stopped making sense. A Course in Miracles offers a definition of justice that has nothing to do with punishment, fairness, or getting even. What IS it, then? Why does forgiveness depend on it? What’s the one word we use without thinking that may be silently blocking every forgiveness attempt we’ve ever made? Listen with me on Episode 735.
