Do you ever suffer over your suffering. At least that’s how it felt to me. It’s so deeply upsetting that often, in our heart, we really do know the causes of our suffering and yet we choose them anyway – again and again. It’s a kind of madness.
I’ve seen it so many times.
People call me and ask me for suggestions to alleviate their suffering. I give them specific tools and tips that I know work.
Three months later the call me again and ask the same question about the same situation.
I ask if they tried any of the suggestions I gave them before.
I think you know the answer … no, they didn’t. Now the situation is worse.
There’s no point in asking them why they didn’t do anything differently – I know the answer. The question is, do you? Do you know why you keep suffering when you don’t have to? I didn’t used to. I had no clue. I just thought it was more evidence that there was something wrong with me. Now, I know differently.
