What is the kingdom of heaven?  It’s knowing our true identity is perfect, and that we’re part of God, not separate.

The kingdom of heaven is within.

If we’re looking to find it somewhere outside of our own heart, then we’re delaying finding it. Many people are still seeking outside of themselves, thinking that what they deeply want, need and desire is somewhere in the world.  

In my experience, eventually we’ll all move past the needing, wanting, and craving of the world and into the place of the one and only desire to know the truth that is our liberation.  We’re all headed in that direction.

If we’re looking in the world for the answer, we may be deluded into thinking that if we look long and hard enough we might find it. If we work hard enough they will be able to manifest it or attract it. If we’re lucky, someone will give it to us. All of that seeking is illusion. The kingdom is within, to look elsewhere is to go on a fool’s errand. 

Deep down, we all know this truth. That’s why so many despair. They are afraid to look within.  Let’s have the courage.

Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

Why would someone be afraid to look for the kingdom in the one and only place it can be found?  Well, if we’re thinking of ourselves as not good enough, if we’re thinking that inside of is is something ugly and unworthy, if we feel we’re filled to the brim with guilt, blame and shame – then we probably won’t feel excited about looking within. Instead we’ll fear what we might find, and we’ll avoid it.

In which case, we may feel it’s better not to look within and simply continue to seek in vain. We can become convinced that the suffering of not finding heaven is less than the suffering of discovering just how ugly our own heart is. This is the thought that keeps so many from discovering the fulfilling richness of the kingdom in our heart – because we don’t believe it’s there – we fear that only ugliness is within.

The kingdom is pre-installed and fully equipped. We can find the courage to look within. And in the process we can develop true humility. It takes true humility to be willing to venture, going forth in faith, to discover that the Kingdom is within our own heart. If we do not love ourselves, or if we have the false-love of the ego, then we’ll remain unwilling to look within. 

For spiritual healing and awakening, humility is required. We must be willing to realize that we are no better than and no less than anyone else. Just as there isn’t one facet of the diamond that is more worthy than another, all are worthy. All are lovable. 

If we judge ourselves as better than or less than we’ll delay feeling worthy of our true identity and we’ll continue to seek outside ourselves in vain. On the road to the kingdom we have an infinite number of opportunities to develop true humility.  We can begin today, or we can delay.  Ultimately, we’ll decide for humility.

We can reach the kingdom through the sweet practice of prayer and contemplation and develop true humility that way. Or we can go through the pain and suffering of humiliation to find our way to true humility. It’s up to us, what we choose.  

We ALL are worthy of our divinity.  Every one of us is worthy of our divinity.

In the willingness to accept this simple truth is our humility which opens the door to the kingdom of heaven within.

Today, let’s seek the kingdom, which is within, and all else will most definitely be added unto us.
