I was a chronic complainer.  It was all part of my being super judgmental.  Complaining and judging are often the very same thing.  For a long time, I believed it was my civic and moral duty to judge and complain.  I literally felt that if I didn’t judge and complain that the world would just degrade into a hot mess.

People ask me all the time how to deal with a chronic complainer that’s in their life. Many spiritual students develop an aversion to complaining.  Once they realize the power of their thought and word, and have a clear understanding of how creative their thought and word are, spiritual students often become afraid of miscreating with their word.  Hence the aversion.

Now, I have a new understanding and compassion for the chronic complainer that I used to be. Because of having compassion for myself, I am able to see more clearly what the complaining is about.

Complaints are actually evidence of a deep yearning for excellence, Beauty and spiritual perfection.

Unfortunately, most complainers don’t know that’s the real reason for the judgments and complaints.  They don’t realize that every time they judge and complain they’re actually pushing their happiness further and further away.  By complaining, they’re giving their energy to the very thing they wish to end.

Complaining is like looking at a fire that’s burning you and pouring gasoline on it when you really would prefer to stop the pain and put the fire out.  Complaining doesn’t help except that if you complain enough, and believe your complaints enough, you will create a situation that is so uncomfortable you might just be willing to change your mind about it and do something different.  But is that really how you wish to live?  I don’t think so.

One of the best deterrents to complaining I know is this:

Complaining makes you a crap magnet.

Gratitude makes you a Love Magnet.

You choose what you’d like to magnetize into your life!

When there’s a chronic complainer in your life, they are a gift to you to help you train your mind NOT to judge.  Remember, like attracts like.  The chronic complainer is there to teach us that Love is the healer, not judgment.

We can be a healing presence.

We can make that commitment.  That’s what our experience is for – to teach us and inspire us to be the healer we were born to be!  Today’s the day!

DEEP DIVE WORKSHOP:   Cultivating Self-Love for Relationship Healing One of the hardest things we deal with is the pain of a failing relationship. We recognize our part in it and we make the meaning of the failure that we are a failure at life itself. We often conclude that we’re unlovable. ALL of that can be turned around and undone – if we’re willing. That’s why I’m offering this workshop just in time for Valentine’s Day – make it a gift to yourself!
