Happy Halloween! I love this holiday and find it to be so much fun. I hope it’s lovely where you are too.

Many of us think we’ve let go. We’ve said the words, we’ve moved on, and we’ve called it forgiveness.

But if it still bothers you, if it’s a splinter in the mind, you haven’t forgiven – yet.

That’s just how it is.

And that’s okay. The good news is that you can. For now, let’s cultivate the willingness no matter how small.

Saying “I forgive” isn’t forgiving. They’re different things. Words are symbols. We can say “I love you” and not mean it, and we can say “I forgive them” and not mean it either.

If we’re still bothered, still judging, we haven’t forgiven – yet.

Forgiveness is something else entirely. It’s the release of the meaning we made of things. It’s letting go of our attachment to our perceptions and projections.

That’s why the interpretations we drag along day after day are the splinters. They can burn like stomach acid in the belly, and the better picture is a splinter in the mind, not the brain. The splinter and the acid stay there until we’re willing to release the meaning we gave to what happened – or didn’t happen.

Sometimes we need a little motivation to let go of the past and the meaning we made of it. It’s impossible to overstate how much forgiveness offers us.

Our pain can be that motivation.

I know this from the inside. I used to have obsessive, compulsive resentments, anger, and thoughts of revenge and regret. I wasted so much of my life spinning around in those thoughts.

Getting out of that spin cycle, and out of that pain and suffering, was worth everything I did to accomplish it.

Here’s what helped me to see it correctly. When something still bothers me, it isn’t a failure. It simply shows me where there’s more forgiveness work to do.

Forgiveness offers us everything, because it removes the blocks to Love. Once the blocks are gone, the Love is flowing, and Love is Peace, Joy, Wholeness, and Freedom all at once.

The question I ask now isn’t “Have I said the words?” It’s “Does it still bother me?”

If it does, I’m grateful to be honest with myself. Now,I can offer it to the Holy Spirit for healing.

If you’d like to find out what’s still a splinter for you, my next FREE Forgiveness Workshop is this Sunday, November 1, 2026. The topic is “Stop Missing Your Miracle.” Register at my.powerofloveministry.net/miracles where we release the meaning we made of things together.

If it still bothers you, there’s more Love waiting on the other side of it.

LATEST PODCAST EPISODE: Alan Cohen: A Glitch in the Matrix In this episode, I’m talking with my dear friend Alan Cohen about his latest book, A Glitch in the Matrix. Borrowing from the movie, Alan calls the matrix the collective illusion built on separation, lack, and fear. A glitch is any moment that cracks it open. He says the way out is inner, and when we stop identifying with our personality, the matrix becomes our servant instead of our master. His closing message: “Your greatest contribution to a peaceful world is to be at peace.” Pull up a chair.
