Jesus taught that to those who have, more will be given, and from those who don’t have, even what they have will be taken away.
I understand this to mean that when we have a consciousness of love, compassion, forgiveness, and unity, more of that love flows to us.
Like attracts like.
The part of us that clings to resentment will eventually be taken away. We don’t lose the kingdom. We lose what was blocking our view of it.
The Development of Trust section in the Manual for Teachers in A Course in Miracles shows this same principle. We learn that if we don’t let go of what stands in the way of our loving heart, the things we have valued more than Love may be taken from us. This can feel uncomfortable, but it moves us toward a bounty of Love that has always been ours.
Like Dorothy returning home, or the prodigal son going home, we can recognize the home we’ve always had in our hearts. We don’t need to know every step of the way in advance. We can simply be willing and choose it now.
Here’s what helps me stay on the path. I recognize that everything I give, I give to God, and everything I receive, I receive from God.
