One of our goals in our Pray & Clear 40 day reboot is to recover our Joy! The dietary aspects are to help us get our digestive tract working well so that our serotonin is flowing properly. Serotonin gives our brain the happy drugs. Alejandro Junger, the cardiologist who wrote the book Clean that we’re using for our cleanse and detox, was having heart trouble, depressed and on anti-depressants, overweight and basically not doing so well. He cleaned up his act and it changed his life. He went off the anti-depressants. Slimmed down. Had a healing. If you ask me, that’s Self-Love, baby!

In shifting and changing how we care for ourselves, one of the most valuable things is to begin to have fun. I’ve learned to find lots of little easy things that are fun for me. That way I can easily add them into my life without a big production. When I was living in Los Angeles it was fun to go out to lunch with a really good friend. Going out to lunch takes a big chunk out of the day, so that was a real treat.

Having fun, being playful and creative is always an important part of my retreats because it’s so nourishing to the spirit (I have one coming up in May – my Stop Playing Small Retreat.). People love to play and have fun on retreats – they’re often reminded that they don’t have enough fun and play time in their lives. Many people LOVE when I do arts and crafts time on a retreat.

Another fun thing for me is to get together with my prayer partners and just have a big gab fest and hang out together. A fun thing is to go for a hike in a beautiful place I love. Here in Kauai, I take myself to the beach which I just LOVE. I love the negative ions which are so healing. I love everything about the ocean and the water is so beautiful here. I make myself go even when there’s a lot to be done. I also have learned to get out in the sun and get some vitamin D as long as the sun is out. I love to listen to the birds and sip a cup of tea. There are so many sweet simple things we can enjoy – and then there’s FUN!!!

I love to play cards with friends – and board games – that’s really fun for me. I have fun riding my spin bike and rocking out to some great music. Dinner with friends and loved ones is a favorite fun activity. I love to ski. I have fun going to the farmer’s market.

I encourage you to make a commitment to do at least ONE fun thing per week, and one enjoyable thing per day. If you’d like to enjoy your life more, put more attention on it. It’s not a burden. There are many simple pleasures. Make a list so that you’re more aware and attuned to them. How about keeping your FUN list on your refrigerator? Keep it in plain view.

Please share what’s fun for you in our facebook group. Let’s all see if we can find some NEW ways to have fun!

Remember, it takes 28 days to make a new habit – and we’re making lots of great, loving, supportive, nourishing, and FUN new habits here! Let’s make some of the simple repetitive things in life more fun! Or at least enjoy them more. When we experience the sensual side of life – taste, touch, smell – without self-medication, but with self-nurturing, then we’re bringing in more Joy and Love!

What if, for 28 days you were to make a commitment to make your life more enjoyable? Let Spirit do the heavy lifting and show you the way. Ask the Angels to lead you and guide you!

When the temptation to self-medicate INSTEAD of choosing something uplifting comes, choose to love yourself and strengthen your alignment with Love remember to choose transcendence – PRAY and Partner UP! Build the healthy habit! Remember:

Nothing tastes as good as Joy feels!

On the cleanse side of life: I’ve been eating whole grains forever. I just love them. They are good for so many reasons and one of my favorites is quinoa (pronounced KEEN-wa).

Quinoa has these wonderful benefits:

  • It’s high in protein and has all nine essential amino acids
  • has almost two times the fiber as most other grains
  • it has iron which keeps our blood healthy and increases brain function
  • It has a lot of other great things like Magnesium, Riboflavin, manganese
  • It’s inexpensive and
  • one of the best things is it’s a great substitute for rice and it cooks in about 15 minutes – it couldn’t be easier!

Try some quinoa with veggies and chicken or beans. I love to make a quinoa bowl – mix it with salad greens, add some nuts and avocado. Try it and see for yourself – it’s great with all kinds of sauces. YUM!

If you’re finding what I’m sharing to be helpful won’t you please share at facebook and twitter to let others know? Thank you!

Come run away with me! Check out my Stop Playing Small Retreat this May in North Carolina!
