This is a question everyone of us will ask: How is peace possible in this world?

Certainly peace seems impossible here.

Yet A Course in Miracles tells us in the Manual for Teachers, Chapter 11: “God’s Word has promised that peace is possible here. And what God promises can hardly be impossible.”

But it is true that the world must be looked at differently if God’s promises are to be accepted.

What the world IS is simply a fact. We cannot choose what this should be. But we can choose how we see it. And indeed, we must choose this.

Right now, many of us are distressed over things happening in the world. Totally understandable. The events are intense. The conversations are distressing. But it’s important for us to remember that we’re never upset for the reason we think. We’re upset because we’re judging. We’re upset because we’re thinking things should be different.

Here’s what ACIM tells us: “It is not the world that makes peace seem impossible. It is the world you see that is impossible.”

The world we see through our judgments – that’s what’s impossible. But God’s righteous judgment on this distorted world has already redeemed it and made it fit to welcome peace. Peace descends on the world in joyous answer to God’s Vision.

What else but a thought of God turns hell to heaven merely by being what it is?

The question is no longer “Can peace be possible in this world?” The question becomes: Is it not impossible that peace be absent here?

Peace is here when we choose peace. If we don’t feel at peace, we can choose again. This is what we’re here to do.  If we’re not at peace, we “must have decided wrongly.”

No matter how crazy we’re feeling, no matter how insane things seem, we don’t have to worry about how to bring Peace. We simply have to be willing to surrender the meaning we’ve made of things and stop blocking the Peace.  We turn it over to the Higher Holy Spirit Self.

our upcoming Change Your Mind About the World program starting May 30 is designed to help us do exactly this – learn to see the world differently so that peace becomes not just possible but inevitable.
