Of course, the biggest trick the ego has is separation. And it shows up everywhere—in our relationships, in our grief, in our daily upsets. Every single time we’re upset, it’s an ego trick because we’re believing something that’s not true.

Here’s what made a difference for me: recognizing that A Course in Miracles tells us right from the beginning, “I am never upset for the reason I think.” I’m upset because of the meaning I gave whatever it is—including the pain and suffering around loss and my belief in loss.

Whether it’s grief over a pet, a person, a job, or even your home, the ego whispers the same lie: “It’s gone. You’re alone. You’re living in lack. You can’t be happy again.” But relationships don’t actually end. Only in ego perception do relationships end. We’re eternal. We’re all part of the same field of Love.

So only the appearance of the relationship between our personalities can appear to end. But in reality? No. There’s no such thing as relationships ending. Hallelujah!

I learned this deeply when an important relationship seemed to end. Instead of accepting the ego’s story of permanent loss, I anchored into prayer that our relationship would continue into another lifetime. I committed to doing all the forgiveness work now so that in the next incarnation, we could have a purely happy, fulfilling relationship.

ACIM tells us, “The holiest spot on earth is where an ancient hatred becomes a present love.” Sometimes our current relationships are already that—an ancient hatred becoming a present love. We just haven’t worked through all the ancient parts yet.

What if you could see through the trick of separation today?

What if every loss, every ending, every goodbye was actually an opportunity to discover that Love never leaves, that connection is eternal, that we’re all part of the same infinite field?

In Masterful Living, we practice seeing through these ego tricks together, discovering the truth that sets us free from the illusion of separation. The ego’s biggest trick only works if you believe it. Today, we’re choose to see through the illusion to our true reap.

NEW ACIM PODCAST EPISODE:  All Hatred is Self-Hatred What if the thing you’re most afraid of isn’t pain, loss, or suffering?

In this episode, I turn to one of the most startling passages in A Course in Miracles – Chapter 13: The Fear of Redemption – and what I found there is not what I expected. With so much hatred, division, and disinformation swirling in the world right now, I share a raw and honest post I wrote about my own experience with rage – and the connection I’ve discovered between self-hatred and everything we see playing out around us.

I explore a line from the ACIM Text explaining that we’re not actually afraid of what we think we’re afraid of. Something much deeper – and much more beautiful – is what we’re really running from.

I also share the single moment in my mid-twenties that changed everything for me – one sentence I heard myself say to myself.

If you’ve been feeling the weight of the world, come join me. There’s a way through – and it might surprise you.
