Right now, there are two conversations happening in our minds. Can you feel them in yourself?
One voice whispers of our unworthiness, our mistakes, our inadequacies. It catalogues every failure, every moment we fell short, every reason we don’t deserve love. This voice is relentless, creative in its cruelty, and absolutely certain of our smallness.
But there’s another Voice. Quiet, steady, unwavering in its truth.
It’s the still, small Voice for God.
This Voice reminds us of our perfection. It remembers our wholeness even when we’ve forgotten. It looks upon every mistake we’ve made and sees only our eternal innocence.
A Course in Miracles tells us that “The Holy Spirit is not deceived by anything you do because the Holy Spirit never forgets what you are.”
Our Higher Holy Spirit Self never forgets what we are. Whose we are. Why we are.
Think about that for a moment. There’s nothing we’ve done, nothing we’ve said, nothing we’ve thought that has changed the Holy Spirit’s evaluation of us. Not one single thing.
While we’re busy lamenting our littleness,
the Divine in us remains completely unshaken in its knowledge of our magnificence.
Here’s what I’ve learned:
we can’t evaluate ourselves accurately from within the ego’s insane belief system.
It’s like trying to see clearly while wearing distorted glasses – everything looks warped. We have to step outside, align with that higher perspective, and see ourselves as we truly are.
The ego’s voice ranges from suspicious to vicious, keeping us trapped in uncertainty. But the Holy Spirit’s Voice is absolutely certain because it knows the truth: we are part of God’s very completeness. “God is incomplete without me” isn’t ego talking – it’s the recognition of our essential place in Divine wholeness.
So which voice are we listening to today? The one that keeps us small and suffering, or the One that sees our true grandeur?
We have a choice in every moment. When the ego starts its familiar litany of accusations, we can notice that we’re no longer peaceful and we can pause to remember: that’s not the Voice of truth. The Voice of truth sees only Love where Love is, and Love is all that’s really here. Love is what I AM.
Our willingness to listen to the right Voice is all that’s required for everything to change.
This is the heart of what we practice in my Masterful Living Program (which starts January 3rd) together we give the heavy lifting to the Holy Spirit when we’re training our mind to be vigilant only for God.
