Happy New Year!
I am so grateful to say yes to this new year. So grateful and so thankful for the opportunity to open ourselves to the unlimited, the unprecedented and the loving nature of our true Christ identity.
Letting the Past Go
One of the things I can tell you is I used to really have a dread at the beginning of a new year because I didn’t feel like I had the tools and the ability to make an improvement.
I was one of those people who would set New Year’s resolutions that I didn’t keep. Setting resolutions became an almost depressing activity because I kind of knew I probably wouldn’t keep them.
I was just setting myself up for more failure and more disappointment. That was a giant bummer to do that to myself year after year.
Here’s what helped me see it correctly: Hope is not actually that helpful. Intention is extremely helpful. Willingness is extremely powerful. But hope and resolutions? They’re more egotistical.
A Course in Miracles tells us: “I am determined to see things differently.” This is intention. This is willingness. This is how we transform.
The Power of How We’d Like to Feel
Instead of resolving to DO things, we can intend to FEEL and to BE things – this is so much more valuable.
When we focus on the feeling—the inner experience—the outer form takes care of itself.
ACIM reminds us: “Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven.” The Kingdom is within. When we find it there, everything else follows.
What I’ve Witnessed
I’ve seen people who felt it was absolutely impossible for them have the most miraculous transformations.
One student went from 99% of her life energy invested in managing old upsets to just 5%. Another healed a six-year conflict with her ex-husband by taking responsibility without blame. Another saw her anger attacks with her children completely dissolve—and watched her child heal alongside her.
They all started in the same place: “I don’t know if this can work for me, but I’m willing to try.”
That willingness is everything.
Our Mind Is the Mind of God
What we hold in our mind for ourselves is what we’re going to bring into our experience. So if we’re not willing to hold what we’d like, then we’re not using our God-power to make our life more enjoyable.
Our mind is very powerful.
We’re only subject to what we hold in our mind.
So let’s focus our attention on our aspiration, our intention, our goals.
Let’s go for it.
Maybe that scares you. Maybe you’re afraid to falter and fail so why bother? I’m telling you, we can prove that our spiritual practice is potent and powerful and God does not fail. That’s the truth.
Having strong, clear intention is life-changing.
And we don’t have to know how it will happen.
We don’t have to make it happen.
Spirit will provide the how.
We just have to be willing.

NEW ACIM PODCAST EPISODE: There Are No Accidents In Your Life – As I stand on this precipice of 2026 and a new nine-year cycle, I’m over the moon with excitement about the fresh start ahead! This year I spent 25-30 days with my family – 10 adults, 4 dogs – without a single argument or disturbance, and I know it’s because I’ve taken total responsibility for the quality of all my relationships. Working with Chapter 21 of A Course in Miracles, I’ve embraced that there are no accidents or chances in God’s universe. We wrote our script with multiple pathways based on choosing love or fear in each moment. My daily practice is simple: “I’m responsible for what I see, I choose my feelings, everything is just as I wish it would be.” Life used to feel like a daily battle with nightmares; now I live above the battlefield where what I need appears exactly when needed. Transformation isn’t rocket science. It simply requires living the principles moment by moment rather than just understanding them intellectually.

Awesome! I am willing to change the way I look at things! I am willing to be Peace. The sentence, “We are only subject to what we hold in our mind” hit me like a ton of bricks. So simple. As the Filmores said,” Thoughts held in mind create after their kind”. My responsibility is for my thoughts not someone else’s. It’s my thoughts that show up in my life experiences. That’s where my responsibility lies. This answers the question what if someone else has different thoughts that go against mine? Not mine to worry about, just bless and forgive my judgement about their thought. Thank you for all you do. You just opened up the New Year for me! Marie Brain
