“Time heals all wounds.” We’ve all heard it. We’ve probably said it. But here’s what A Course in Miracles teaches us: Time is a trick. A sleight of hand. A vast illusion.

In Lesson 158, Jesus tells us directly that time has no power to heal anything. Time has no mind of its own. Time is not part of God. So how could it heal us?

Here’s what made a difference for me: understanding that the ego uses time to keep us trapped. “Just wait,” it says. “Eventually you’ll feel better. Give it time.” But while we’re waiting for time to heal us, we’re not doing the actual work of healing – which requires us releasing our false beliefs.

The ego loves to use time as a delay tactic. It tells us we need more time to forgive, more time to heal, more time to be ready for peace. But healing doesn’t happen in time.

Healing happens in the holy instant when we choose to see differently.

I learned this when my mother passed. Instead of waiting for time to heal my grief, I chose to question the belief that she was gone. I chose to accept that there is no separation. And in that instant—not after months or years—I felt closer to her than ever.

The Course teaches us that everything was gently planned by One Whose only purpose is your good. Nothing happens by accident. There are no mistakes in God’s plan. When we accept this, we don’t need time to heal—we need only willingness to see the truth.

Think about it: If you’re waiting for time to heal a wound, you’re essentially saying, “I’ll keep believing this painful thought for a while longer.”

But why? Why not choose healing now?
ACIM tells us it’s because we feel guilty and we’re punishing ourselves.
I say, ENOUGH of that.

Time is the ego’s trick to keep you from your good. But your healing is available right now, in this instant, waiting only for your willingness to receive it.

Healing happens not through time, but through a change of mind.
