Twenty-five years ago, I sat with my first counseling client, my mind churning with judgments. Judging them, judging myself, judging everyone and everything.

But I had made a commitment that would transform everything: to see only their perfection.

The Practice That Heals

Even as clients told me stories of lack, limitation, and pain, I held firm. I would not be fooled. I saw their wholeness, their beauty, their magnificence. I saw the Christ in them even when they couldn’t see it themselves.

And here’s what I learned: As I concentrated on their perfection, I began to recognize my own.

A Course in Miracles says, “What you call upon in them, you call upon in yourself.”
This isn’t metaphor. It’s spiritual law.

By calling upon their holiness, I awakened to my own.

The Mirror of Healing

ACIM told me, “Only they can teach you what you are, for your learning is the result of what you taught them.” Every client became my teacher. Every session became a healing for us both.

When we teach separation, we learn separation.
When we teach wholeness, we learn wholeness.
When we extend love, we experience love.
It’s that simple and that profound.

Why This Matters Now

The world needs healers who understand this law. Not healers who see themselves as separate from and superior to those they serve, but healers who recognize that in serving others, they serve themselves.

This is why “To have, give all to all” isn’t sacrifice—it’s the key to abundance.

The Holy Spirit cannot give you more than you’re willing to extend to others.
Your receiving is literally limited by your giving.

Your Healing Practice

You don’t need to be a counselor to practice this. Every interaction is an opportunity. The annoyed cashier at the store. The difficult neighbor. The family member who blames you.

Hold the line.
See their perfection.
Refuse to be fooled by the story being presented.
And when you do, you are healed.
