Thinking of your mind as a garden can be a beautiful way to practice. Errant thoughts are like weeds in the garden. Will you water them? Will you feed them? Will you let them take over your garden?

Sometimes when the weeds are thick it can seem hopeless.

It can seem like the weeds have a lot more tenacity to survive then you do to thrive! However, the weeds only have as much power as you give them. When we take a stand in LOVE then the weeds have no power at all. It’s amazing how quickly we can turn an overrun garden into a beautiful paradise if we’re willing to give it some real attention.

Weeding your actual garden can be a wonderful way to practice weeding your spiritual garden. Yesterday, Julie, one of the beautiful peeps in Finding Freedom shared a beautiful experience of turning their mind around. She was definitely feeling challenged, but she decided to focus her attention on wedding the garden – both in her mind and in her yard – she shared with us in Finding Freedom this beautiful insight:
“I decided to go out to my front garden to pull weeds. I felt inspired to give my challenges and negative ego-based thoughts to the holy spirit…as I pulled each weed I thought about the things…some general and some specific…that I wanted to remove from my life and mind. I pulled several weeds for “comparisons”, other weeds for “opinions”, lots of weeds for “judgments”….weeds were pulled for “judging others’ judging”, for the “desire to be validated by other egos“, weeds were even pulled for “specialness”, “limitations” and any desire to be “less than”.

This whole process was incredibly healing and I truly think I needed this class to have this breakthrough in understanding. I soooo appreciate everyone in this class…for all the love and support…and for everyone’s willingness to be so open and honest. I love you all so much and can’t even begin to tell you how grateful I am to each and every one of you! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Love always! Julie”

Living the active practice of Love can seem so daunting. The ego will try to convince us that it’s impossible. With one simple decision we can actually turn it all around and find a wonderful way to deepen our spiritual practice even while doing our chores. Negative thoughts are like weeds. False beliefs are like dust bunnies. We can make a holy offering of them to the Higher Holy Spirit Self and we can have a healing. What we sincerely offer will be lifted from us. The keys are willingness and sincerity.

Today is a good day to weed the garden!
