Here’s something underneath a great deal of our worry that we might not recognize as the cause of it.

We know we’re deceiving ourselves.

We might not admit it. We might not admit it even to ourselves. That doesn’t mean we don’t know it.

We’re doing the thing where you put your fingers in your ears and go no, no, no, no, no. We say we’d like the truth. We say we’re interested in the truth. We say yes, please, bring me the truth. And then we go on preferring the meaning we’ve made of things.

We’re in our own personal version of A Few Good Men, with Jack Nicholson leaning in and telling us we can’t handle the truth.

We can handle the truth. We’d just rather not.

That’s where a surprising amount of worry comes from. Not from the world. From giving ourselves permission to ignore what we already know.

Because the moment we do that, we’ve chosen to live in the prison of our own opinions. And we actively know that the prison of our own opinions isn’t a good place for us.

We know we’re playing small in there. We know we’re making ourselves miserable in there. We know we’re blocking the flow of inspiration, intuition, divine downloads, and creativity, all of it waiting on the other side of a door we’re holding shut.

A Course in Miracles offers a sentence so plain it’s easy to walk past.

The truth is true. Nothing else matters, nothing else is real, and everything beside it is not there.

Everything beside it is not there. Including the case we’ve been building. Including the story we’ve been rehearsing since three o’clock this morning.

Many of us grew up hearing that the truth will make us free. We nodded at it in church and then went home and kept our opinions.

Freedom is what’s actually being offered us.

When I come to a teaching I don’t understand, I’ve learned to say so out loud. Higher Holy Spirit Self, I don’t get this. Would you make it clear and plain in my heart and in my mind?

The clarity comes. Maybe not in the next minute. Sometimes tomorrow, while I’m driving in traffic.

It comes because I finally got interested in the truth instead of interested in being right, instead of hiding.  I’ve learned to value the truth because it really does bring liberation and that’s a beautiful thing to share.

We’ll look at what worry actually is in the mind, why willpower has never once dissolved it, and how to hand the future over so we can rest even while life is still unresolved. Not denial. Not pretending we’re fine. A real change of mind. It’s FREE, and I’d love to have you with us. Register now so you don’t forget at powerofloveministry.net/Release

LATEST PODCAST EPISODE: You Don’t Know What Will Make You Happy In this episode, I explore ACIM teachings on happiness, certainty, and trust. I’m just home from an A Course in Miracles gathering in Stony Point, New York, and I opened Lessons 361 to 365 and the Workbook Epilogue and found the one assumption that quietly kept my own answered prayer out of reach for years. I share the surprising truth about what we’re afraid surrender will cost us, the hidden key to certainty, and why worry never runs out of material. If your faith feels shaken, come sit with me.
