One of the biggest forms of self-sabotage we can have is to fear turning our life over to that Higher Holy Spirit Self.

It’s the fear that keeps us all identified with the small, selfish self that we made.  When we’re managing the fear, we’re validating it and investing in it.  Only healing it is helpful.

I understand this fear so well. We’re afraid that if we really let Spirit decide, we’ll lose everything we think we need. Our job. Our relationships. Our sense of control.

My Experience of Radical Trust

Here’s what made a difference for me: I’ve had the experience of doing precisely that—turning my life over to Spirit—and then, within hours, being relieved of my job and thinking, “Oh! Now how am I going to support myself? How am I going to pay my bills?”

And the answer coming back to me is, “Trust!” What?! Anything but that! Right?

But deciding, “Okay, this is it, folks! This is where I learn radical trust and faith”—that’s when I discovered something beautiful. My mother was so ill, she was going into hospice, and I had the freedom to go and be with her because I didn’t have that job. If I’d been working that job, I wouldn’t have been able to go be with her and that would have been unbearable.  Spirit timed it perfectly.

Spirit Had Something in Mind

Spirit had something in mind. Spirit is leading us and guiding us.  And we know when we’re following that still small voice and when we’re not.

I’ve decided I’m going to go where Spirit is taking me.

This is how we quicken our awakening—by listening to Spirit. By trusting. By being willing to follow even when it’s scary.

How Do You Know It’s Spirit?

People ask me all the time, “How do you know what’s the Voice for God? How do you know what’s the ego and what’s Spirit?” And it’s not complicated. You have to be willing to listen to Spirit in order to discern it’s voice/vibration/inspiration. And in order to have that discernment as your goal, you have to have the deep desire to hear the Voice for God and to follow the Voice for God.

A Course in Miracles is very clear in the Manual for Teachers that trust is the #1 characteristic of God’s Teachers. In my Masterful Living Program, we focus on it—proving that we CAN trust the Higher Holy Spirit Self, that we WILL be led and guided to the very highest and best if we’re willing to trust.
