Guidance often arrives in the simplest ways. The little things. The ones that sound like, “Don’t eat that. Eat something else. Drink a glass of water now.”

The body’s discomfort gives us so many clues about how to follow the Voice for God. Simple signals are everywhere, all day long.

One thing many women do is wait to go to the bathroom until they’re uncomfortable. Men don’t tend to do that. If you notice you’re doing it and you’re getting the signal, go to the bathroom. Just go.

Why wait? We make ourselves uncomfortable until we’re finally pushed by the pain. We can live that way. Or we can be pulled by the vision, the Voice for God.

That gentle voice says, “Eat this. Try that. Call your neighbor. Visit your neighbor. Reach out to your neighbor.” Make that call.

Someone recently told me about a person they knew who had died. They wished they’d reached out. They’d received the signal to reach out, but they didn’t.

If you’re getting a signal to reach out to someone, reach out. Why not? There are so many ways, all day long, to follow the Voice for God.

I invite you to get still now and ask, “What’s the first guidance that comes to my mind?” It’s the guidance you hear all the time but haven’t yet been willing to follow.

We stopped valuing our connection with God and began to value our own opinions and judgments. That’s what caused the separation in the mind.

The separation is an illusion, and we are of God. The Atonement is our journey home. It’s the full recognition that the separation never occurred.

It can seem like a tremendous act of courage to follow our intuition.

We can start with small things and build our trust in intuition into a mighty faith.

LATEST PODCAST EPISODE:  Putting Up With Them Isn’t Love In this episode of A Course in Miracles: Walking the Talk, Living the Love, I explore the codependent relationships that keep so many of us walking on eggshells. We give more, love harder, and keep the peace, and somehow the same dynamic comes right back. I’ve seen these bargains up close in the many relationships I’ve worked with over more than 25 years as a counselor. This conversation looks at what really keeps the pattern in place and what it would mean for the relationship to finally change.
