When I was in the Graduate Screenwriting Program at the University of Southern California getting my masters in Screenwriting, I was fortunate to have as a teacher a brilliant actor, director and teacher – Nina Foch. I was also blessed to be her Teaching Assistant.
Many of the things that Nina said still ring in my mind. She was very impressive and a great, great teacher. She was also a talented teacher and coach of actors and all kinds of professionals. She was the acting coach for both Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke when they made The Miracle Worker – the story of Helen Keller. It’s a brilliant and beautiful story and a movie well worth watching. So inspiring!
Nina used to say, for writers and directors especially, “focus on the light, the darkness will take care of itself.”
As a spiritual student I know the darkness has no power. Darkness is merely an absence of Light, and the only place there can be an absence of Light is in our awareness. God is Light and we are Light beings, so there is no absence of Light, but it sure can seem like there is at times.
In times of challenge, I tell myself to focus on the Light, and I remind myself that the darkness has no power.
Only Love is real. Love is Light.
It’s so important that we remember the darkness is nothing and has no power.
The power of God is in our mind and we choose what to focus on.
In order for us all to remember our true identity, let’s focus on the Light of our being.
In this time where so many people are experiencing the divisiveness, and prejudice being brought to the Light let us focus on what is real – the Love. We’re not in denial of what’s happening, but we’re not giving the negativity any power or authority of our us.
Our mind is the mind of God and we’re only interested in the thoughts we think with God.
