We’re designed to be so sensitive that we can feel the slightest disturbance in our awareness, so that we’d realize: oh, there’s a fly in the ointment. Let me get it out.

There’s a disturbance in my awareness. Now is the time to reconnect.

The disturbance isn’t the malfunction. The disturbance is the signal.

When we feel even the tiniest bit of disconnection, agitation, irritation, or sadness, we’re not broken. We’re working exactly as designed.

That sensitivity is telling us something precise: I became disconnected. I started thinking thoughts of separation.

You know you’re going it alone, without connecting to that Higher Holy Spirit Self, if you feel uncomfortable. Even the tiniest little bit.

The disturbance is the divine alarm clock going off and letting you know there’s an opportunity to heal a false belief.

Here’s where we go off track.

We feel the discomfort, and instead of reaching for healing, we start managing the disturbance.

  • We cope with it.
  • We distract ourselves from it.
  • We numb it, eat it, drink it, work right through it.

That’s the slippery slope.

We get so practiced at managing the upset that we forget the discomfort can simply be healed.  One of the biggest forms of self-sabotage we cycle through every single day is thinking that we’re right when we’re not right.  The disturbance was there to tell us. We talked ourselves out of listening.  Here’s what’s available instead. The moment we notice it, we can use it

Higher Holy Spirit Self, I notice I’m disturbed. I’d like to release this. I’m willing.

That’s the practice that transforms our experience.

The sensitivity was never a curse. It’s the gift that tells us we’ve drifted and it’s time to reconnect.

If you’d like to practice this in community, my FREE Forgiveness Workshop is free and open to everyone. Come as you are.

Let’s celebrate our healing opportunities instead of rejecting them.   Let’s use the sensitivity for what it is – a blessing!

NEW PODCAST EPISODE:  What To Do When Someone Blames You. A family member got upset with me and told me it was my fault.  I didn’t attack back. I didn’t defend myself. I didn’t need him to admit he was wrong, and I didn’t make him wrong either. What I felt toward him instead is the part I’m still grateful for. Chapter 29 of A Course in Miracles. The gap between you and your brother.
